PANO – The Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company under the Vietnam Helicopter Corporation (known as Army Corp 18) on January 14th introduced helicopter AW-189, which is among three modern medium-lift helicopters.
Produced by Italy’s Agusta Westland S.P.A Company under a contract between the company and the Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company, and brought to Vietnam in late 2015, the helicopter has dominant features to effectively operate at sea.
Addressing the event, Major General Ha Tien Dung, the corporation’s General Director stressed that the AW-189, numbered VN-8640, meets the safety requirements of Federal Aviation Administration, European Aviation Safety Agency, and International Association of Oil & Gas Producers and is the first helicopter of this kind to operate in Vietnam.
He added that the operation of the modern helicopter will help raise the production capacity of businesses, meet the requirements of defence missions at sea, as well as affirming the brand name and prestige of Vietnam’s aviation. In the common difficult situation of the oil and gas industry, the company has strived to update modern planes to serve customers, making contributions to sustainable development.
