The Mong Duong 1 thermal power plant was inaugurated in Quang Ninh province on Saturday. With a capacity of more than 1,000 MW, the plant is part of Vietnam’s national electricity development plan for the 2001-2020 period, which can be extended to 2030.
In an address, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said: “The electricity sector should embrace itself to serve national socio-economic development. The operation of this thermal power plant will increase backup electricity generation 20%.
This project is evidence of the effective cooperation between central ministries, Quang Ninh province, investors, and construction units.” Power generated by the Mong Duong 1 thermal power plant will contribute significantly to socio-economic development in Vietnam’s northeastern region.
